About

While you’ve reached us by searching the Internet using the keywords “Mormon Church,” we’d like you to know that the official name of the Mormon Church is actually “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.”

Mormonchurch.com is not an official website of the Church, but one created by faithful members who would like to engage in a conversation about who we are and what we believe with interested friends of other faiths. Our aim is to have individual members of the Mormon Church, from every walk of life, respond openly to your questions about the teachings, beliefs, and lifestyles of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

For the official website of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, please visit www.mormon.org or www.lds.org.

Please feel free to contact us with your specific questions, and we will post our responses.

Does the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse this website as it does “LDS.org?”

Why did God say that thou shall not make any image in the likeness of anything in heaven above (paraphrasing the specific part of the 2nd Commandment which I am concerned about)? Doesn’t the phrase, “anything in heaven above” include God, Christ, Moses, John the Baptist, Moroni, angels, etc?

This website was created by everyday Mormons (members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints), and LDS.org is an official website of the Church. There are no icons in LDS Churches or Temples — no statues of deity or biblical figures. We do, however, have artwork depicting the life of Christ in church meetinghouse classrooms (not the chapel, where we worship) and in the halls of temples.
